Frequently Asked Questions

Do you have a hotel block for guests? Where do you recommend staying?

There are four hotel blocks so that guests may select the best place for their needs. More information can be found here.

How do we get to Basalt and Carbondale, Colorado?

There are many ways you can get here (literally planes, trains and automobiles). Learn more here. If you need additional assistance, contact Kristin. Her job literally includes managing the tourism for Basalt and the surrounding area.

What else should guests do while in Colorado?

Glad you asked! There is a whole list here outlining a variety of things to do in the Roaring Fork Valley. You don’t have to be outdoorsy to enjoy the area.

What is the wedding itinerary?

This is a work in progress, but we anticipate an information gathering the evening of Friday, October 11, for out-of-town guests, with the wedding on Saturday, October 12, starting late afternoon/early evening. There are still many moving parts, so while not everything is figured out right now, this website will be your best source for information. Keep checking back for updated details, FAQs and the final timeline for the wedding weekend.

What is the dress code?

Wedding ceremony and reception: Cocktail or mountain semi-formal/dressy casual. Examples.
The rest of the wedding weekend: Casual

This is a great chance to dress up a bit AND we want all of our guests to be comfortable and feel their best (that tie will get loosened and those heels ditched at some point). Living in the mountains means we do not get many opportunities to wear something other than our outdoor gear, best flannel or smelly Melly. For once Jared will be wearing something other than Outdoor Research (OR), and it would be wonderful if our guests could do the same. Please leave the jeans and Chacos behind for the wedding. 🙂

Ladies: The ceremony will take place on a grassy lawn, so plan your footwear accordingly. If you have questions, don’t hesitate to ask us.

Our wedding color palette includes navy blue, gray, and sage green. Guests are encouraged to wear muted jewel and earth tones, and lean into fall colors. And maybe it is just a fear from all the wedding content/horror story reels in our social media algorithms, but guests should please refrain from wearing white, cream, champagne or anything that could be misinterpreted as trying to upstage the bride. The only one who should be wearing all white is Kristin. 🙂

Will the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception take place indoors or outdoors?

The ceremony will take place in the outside amphitheater adjacent to the venue. Cocktail hour will span both the indoor and outdoor spaces. The reception will be indoors. Colorado weather, especially in October, can be a bit finicky, so Mother Nature may have other plans in store. Once the sun goes down, the temperatures will drop, so additional layers or a jacket will be nice to have on hand for later in the evening.

May we bring our children and/or fur baby?

We are very excited to share our big day with our nearest and dearest, and hope that you will be able to join us for an adults-only celebration. We want all wedding guests, including parents (both human and dog), to have a night of relaxation and uninhibited fun. We are only able to make special accommodations for the children in the wedding party (plus Trudi for the ceremony). We are happy to assist parents with recommendations for childcare options in the area.

How do we get to the venue? Is there parking available venue?

Yes. Public parking is available around the venue, however guests staying at either the Element or The Hoffmann Hotel will be able to walk to the venue (3 minutes and 10 minutes, respectively). Guests staying within the Town of Basalt can utilize its free shuttle service – Basalt Connect – from 3-10 p.m. daily. It is like a ride share, but FREE.

Guests staying a bit further away can drive, or utilize RFTA, the local public transit service in the Roaring Fork Valley.

How do guests RSVP?

Given the recent challenges rural mountain communities like ours have had with receiving USPS mail, we will be leveraging an online RSVP system to ensure that we know you will be joining us! Details will be posted here.

I have a food allergy. Can I make a special request?

Please reach out if you have any allergies or dietary restrictions so that we can make the necessary accommodations. Be sure to include this information in your RSVP.
